How does the new building differ from the former Scott-Farrar Home?

Our community has grown!  After 60 years in the beautiful brick building so many local people remember it was time for a complete rebuild.  In 2016 we did just that, growing from 20 apartments to 63!

Today we offer –

25 Independent Living Apartments

20 Assisted Living Apartments

18 Memory Care Apartments

We also have a library, cafe, two dining rooms, an auditorium, art studio, fitness room, beauty and barber shop, walking trail and so much more.  Come check out all the changes we have made to offer our Residents all they are looking for in a retirement community.

Is there a buy in fee?

No.  Scott-Farrar has continued its long tradition as a non-profit community and operates on a monthly rental basis.

However, there is a one time Community Fee for apartments in Assisted Living and The Garden’s Memory Care Assisted Living.

Does Scott-Farrar allow pets?

Yes. Scott-Farrar recognizes pets as important family members and welcomes them.  Well-behaved, small-to-medium sized pets – dog, cat, bird or manageable fishbowl are welcome. Residents will be responsible for their pet’s care and well-being and will need to provide documentation the their pet’s health annually from a veterinarian.

Can I bring my car?

Yes. There are 16 spaces available in our covered carport (for an additional fee) and parking is also available in our main parking area at no charge.

In addition, Scott-Farrar will provide regularly scheduled trips, such as to a local doctor, Bond Wellness Center, Monadnock Community Hospital, churches, grocery store, pharmacies and downtown Peterborough, using our accessible shuttle bus and mini-van. We will also use these vehicles to attend performances, explore regional highlights and attend other area events.

Is smoking allowed?

Scott-Farrar is a non-smoking community.  Residents are not allowed to smoke in their apartment.

What is Memory Care?

Memory Care Assisted Living offers the same level of personal care as Assisted Living, but has the added benefit of attending to the extra needs of someone with memory loss.  Staff provided direction, support and reassurance to our Residents throughout the day.  Staff encourage participate in specially designed activities and outing.   The environment is comfortable for those with memory loss – offering a quiet, easy to navigate and comfortable home for your loved one.

Staff working in Memory Care are highly trained to care for those with memory loss.  Training starts on day one and is on going throughout their career at Scott-Farrar. 

Is transportation available?

Yes.  We have two brand-new vehicles and a driver to take you where you need to go.

Local transportation is at no cost!  Just sign up and our driver will get you there.

What are the visiting hours?

Scott-Farrar is our Residents home, and just like home visitors are welcome any time.  Overnight guests are also welcome.

Do I bring my own furniture?

Yes, bring anything you like!  Your apartment is your home and you may decorate it with all your own belongings.

You are also welcome to paint walls and make other alterations to your apartment, but please be aware there may be a charge when you move out to remove your alterations.

Do you offer a benefit to Veterans?

Veterans living in Assisted Living may qualify for Aid and Attendance, a benefit offered to qualifying Veterans through the Veterans Administration (VA).  Although we don’t assist with the application process, we can give you information on local agencies who will at no charge.

Do you accept Long Term Care Insurance?

Residents who have Long Term Care Insurance may qualify to use their insurance benefit while living at Scott-Farrar.  Every plan is different, so please speak to your Long Term Care Insurance company to see if you qualify.

We are happy to provide any required documentation.
